Week #113 – Eight Weeks to Happyness: Thank a Veteran!<\/b><\/p>\n

This has been a contentious week. \u00a0Many people are hurting — and not just the ones whose candidate didn’t win. \u00a0Things have been said. \u00a0Friends have been lost. \u00a0Families have been divided.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now that the battle\u00a0is over, many people (on both sides) are suddenly calling for healing after months of stoking divisive fires — but it’s not that easy. \u00a0Candidates, pundits, pollsters, politicians, and celebrities — they all return to their\u00a0high-profile comfortable lives.<\/p>\n

But\u00a0you and me? \u00a0We are left in the trenches to clean up the real mess.<\/p>\n

Where do we begin?<\/p>\n

Ten Weeks to Happyness<\/a>\u00a0is underway — and the calendar gives us an opportunity to come together, even\u00a0if just for a moment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Today — Friday, November 11th — is Veterans Day. \u00a0It was originally known as\u00a0“Armistice Day”, marking the first anniversary of the end of WWI — which came to an end\u00a0on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918. \u00a0<\/span>Since 1954 it has been known as Veterans Day — a day set aside to honor all those who served in the United States Armed Forces, who swore on their very lives to support and defend this great country and her constitution.<\/span><\/p>\n

Your Happyness Challenge\u00a0for the week ahead: Thank a Veteran! \u00a0<\/strong>That private vote you cast (or chose to abstain from) this week…was protected by a veteran. \u00a0That free speech you are enjoying\u00a0in the workplace, in your place of worship, or online…was protected by a veteran. \u00a0That right to protest…or to protest the protesters…is protected by a veteran. \u00a0The freedom to oppose, support, engage in, or\u00a0criticize our democracy…all protected by a veteran.<\/p>\n

So regardless of what side of the aisle you are on…put down your weapons, even if it’s just for a moment, and\u00a0THANK A VETERAN!<\/p>\n
