Week #179 \u2013 Back to Basics: Smile, Wave, Say Hello, and Ask \u201cHow are you doing?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Greetings Tribe…<\/p>\n

It’s been another tough week in the news. \u00a0Another week that breaks our hearts. \u00a0Another week of controversy. \u00a0Another week that could pull us together…<\/p>\n

…or divide us…<\/p>\n

…or maybe both.<\/p>\n

It reminded me of a post from Week #124<\/a>\u00a0— just about a year ago. \u00a0I was back at the Jersey Shore after six months — almost one year from the time we moved — and, in the middle of it all, a highly controversial news cycle.<\/p>\n

And as I re-entered the atmosphere at the Jersey Shore \u2014 to the place where Spread Happyness was born and the smiling guy who inspired it all\u00a0<\/span>\u2014 I was reminded of four\u00a0basic and simple ways to Spread Happyness:<\/p>\n

  1. Wave Big<\/a><\/li>\n
  2. Smile<\/a><\/li>\n
  3. Say Hello Like You Mean It<\/a><\/li>\n
  4. Ask: How are you doing?<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    These are the things many of us miss most about people.<\/p>\n

    When the world seems broken beyond fixing…it is easy to arm ourselves in our opinions, and judgments, and decisiveness about what is best. \u00a0Do something to connect instead.<\/p>\n

    Your Happyness Challenge for the Week Ahead: GET BACK TO BASICS! \u00a0<\/strong>It\u2019s very easy in these volatile news cycles to skip the basics and get right into the issues that are top of mind. \u00a0And while those issues are valid and important and worthy of discussion \u2014 they aren\u2019t always the things\u00a0that connect us. \u00a0(And in some cases, they might actually divide us.) \u00a0So as you encounter each other this week, remember to count to four first: smile, wave, say hello, and ask each other \u201cHow are you doing?\u201d<\/p>\n
