Week #205 – Summer Fun Challenge: Mentor someone!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Greetings, All — and Happy Friday!!!<\/p>\n

We are counting down the Fridays to Labor Day Weekend with some short “Summer Fun”<\/a> suggestions. \u00a0Because — \u00a0as I’ve said each week<\/a> — while many adults are busy planning their kids’ summer fun, they often overlook their own!<\/p>\n

And I want to make sure you’re having fun too!<\/p>\n

But as enter the last two weeks of August — there’s one thing on everyone’s mind: back to school!<\/strong><\/p>\n

It’s that time of year again<\/a>: many newly minted high school graduates will be heading off to college this week or next. \u00a0Last year’s sophomores will be entering their all-important senior years. \u00a0There are college grads heading out into the workforce. \u00a0And even some adults who like to use the power of August and September to make big changes at home or in their careers.<\/p>\n

I wrote once about “Lowering the Ladder”<\/a> to those who were launching a job search, seeking an internship, or looking to start their own businesses or side hustles at the start of the year.<\/p>\n

The same rules apply now!<\/p>\n

So here’s\u00a0an easy way to Spread Happyness this week: mentor someone!<\/span><\/p>\n

Your Happyness Challenge for the Week Ahead: Mentor someone! \u00a0<\/strong>Do you know someone headed off to college? \u00a0Into their senior year? \u00a0Or into a first job (or new job)? \u00a0Don’t wait for them to ask you for that oh-so-awkward informational interview. \u00a0Take the first step — and offer to take him\/her out for lunch or coffee or a tour of your workplace. \u00a0Think of the people who helped you get where you are right now…that first contact, that first referral, that first interview or hire. \u00a0The first person who treated you like an adult! \u00a0No matter what position you are in…you are more than likely in a position to help someone take their very next step.<\/p>\n
