Week #39 – “Summa-time is Funna-time!” (Are YOU having FUN yet?!)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Happy Friday, Everyone! \u00a0And happy nine-month anniversary to SpreadHappyness.com!<\/p>\n

The weather finally turned warm this week! \u00a0School’s wrapping up, kids are graduating, and the first official day of summer is just a week or so away!<\/p>\n

And if Rob said this to me once, he said it a thousand times: “Summa-time is Funna-time!”<\/p>\n

Rob loved nothing more than the warm weather and a day at the beach (or the airport\u2026or the mountains\u2026or wherever it was he wanted to be)! \u00a0He\u00a0set up his whole life to ensure that he was having fun. \u00a0And if it wasn\u2019t fun\u2026it didn\u2019t get done!<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t to say that he was irresponsible. \u00a0Quite the contrary! \u00a0Rob spent a lot of time putting his ducks in a row\u2026so that he was truly free to enjoy himself. \u00a0Many mornings we\u2019d talk or text and he\u2019d let me know he was cleaning\/shopping\/running errands\/etc. so that later that day he could get to the shore. \u00a0He always took care of business first\u2026so that he could have fun later!<\/p>\n

No doubt you, too, have lots of things to do, to see, and to get done. \u00a0Maybe you’re even planning things so that your kids\/family\/friends\/coworkers are sure to have fun.<\/p>\n

But have you made PLANS for YOU to have FUN?!<\/strong><\/p>\n

You might think that \u201cplanning\u201d and \u201cfun\u201d don\u2019t go together\u2026but I think quite the opposite is true. \u00a0If we’re honest, I think the thing that holds us back the most is that FUN\u00a0means risking being foolish. \u00a0And that\u2019s hard for us adults! \u00a0Most of us have spent our lifetimes to this point getting our ducks in a row and acting like, well, adults! \u00a0But maybe now\u2019s the time to take a risk. \u00a0Make a fool of yourself! \u00a0What have you got to lose?<\/p>\n

This week\u2019s assignment: LET’S PLAN SOME FUN THIS SUMMER!!! \u00a0<\/strong>The internet is FULL of lists and activities for adults to plan for their children\u2026but are adults taking time to plan fun for themselves? \u00a0I think not! \u00a0So I’m calling on you, Happyness Tribe,\u00a0to collectively brainstorm a list of FUN things to do this summer that bring out the kid in you! \u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Get your friends and\u00a0family involved! \u00a0Have a brainstorming session! \u00a0Think about things you liked to do as a kid. \u00a0Things you wanted to do as an adult. \u00a0Or maybe bucket list items you want to cross off before you die! \u00a0Better yet — ask some kids how they plan to have fun this summer! \u00a0Either way — silly or serious — get your list in one place and SHARE IT in the comments! \u00a0I’ll publish a master list next week with all the ideas — and maybe YOUR idea might just be the one that helps someone else have some much needed FUN this summer!<\/p>\n

The best way to teach your kids and others to have fun — is to have fun yourself!<\/p>\n
