Week #87 – “Keep playing that guitar!” \u00a0(Don’t let your dreams gather dust!)<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Rob’s word board there is a slip of paper that says, “Keep playing that guitar!”<\/p>\n

Without knowing the whole story behind it, these are most likely words of encouragement Rob offered to the person who pinned them there.<\/p>\n

Can you imagine that?! \u00a0Can you imagine, at your funeral, having someone sum up your life in four simple words of encouragement?<\/p>\n

What words will someone remember you by?<\/strong><\/p>\n

This post comes on the heels of hearing about a few friends this week who are fulfilling their dreams. \u00a0One is making a big move to a place he always wanted to live. \u00a0Another’s daughter just performed as a back-up singer on a national TV show. \u00a0And another has completed a year-long adventure in another state and is now returning “home” with a new perspective on life. \u00a0There are weight loss successes, return-to-college graduations, and hard-earned masters degrees. \u00a0Dreams of all shapes and sizes coming true…every day.<\/p>\n

It’s Graduation Season<\/strong><\/p>\n

It’s graduation season…and high schoolers and college students everywhere will be leaving the safety of their nests and setting out on lives of their own making. \u00a0Graduation cards will be filled with the phrase “follow your dreams!” \u00a0But do we really mean that? \u00a0(I mean, we\u00a0must…because no graduation card ever wishes the recipient a life of quiet desperation, right?)<\/p>\n

What’s your dream?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Are you chasing your dreams? \u00a0Or are they gathering dust? \u00a0Do you even remember what they were? \u00a0Or\u00a0when you may have set them aside?<\/p>\n

To misquote Henry David Thoreau: “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! \u00a0Live the life you imagined!”<\/p>\n
